Car tuning not only improves your vehicle’s life span but also improves its overall performance and prevents any operational problems from arising in future.
It is not everyday that you purchase a car. So when you do you should take care of its up keep and follow regular maintenance regime to keep it working for a long time. Unless the car engine is properly tuned it will affect the performance and ruin your driving experience. The more you delay your car’s tuning the worse its condition will get.
Car tuning must be done once every year and includes replacing some components of the engine as part of the preventive maintenance. Damage to any of these components can lead to a decline in not only the performance of the engine but its overall life as well.
The most important things to check while tuning your car are the air filters, oils and plugs. You can monitor the oil condition yourself as well using a dip stick however it is better to go to a service centre or car dealer for changing it. It is recommended to change the oil at least every 3 months. Unlike oil some car components can be delayed until the annual car check up and these are explained below.
Air filter’s cleanliness is very important to keep the air flowing to rest of the car’s components. Dirty filter increases the proportion of fuel in the air fuel mixture in comparison to air. This rich concoction clogs the air flowing to most of the car components and eventually they jam and stop working. Next thing in line is the spark plugs. Platinum plugs have a longer life and therefore they do not have to be monitored as regularly as the traditional spark plugs. In any case when inspecting the spark plugs you must not ignore the plug wires.
In addition to spark plugs tuning may also require changing the distributor cap, rotor, PVC valve and oxygen sensor. The newer cars lack few of these components which only makes tuning a lot easier. These are all part of the basic tune up however when you take your car for an annual checkup you can also have additional components inspected for instance breaks, clutch, level of all different fluids and oils and the air conditioning system.
Going through the shop’s or owner’s manual gives you an idea of which components must essentially be addressed during a car tune up. Make sure you take the services of only reliable service providers for tuning your vehicle.
